UNSW UTS EASTERS 2015
Convenors
Equity Officers
Vail Bromberger
Justin Chan
Tim Wheatley

When asked to write a short blurb on himself, Tim proceeded to write one about someone else entirely...which wasn't such an issue, seeing as any debater picked at random probably is more accomplished and interesting. But seriously, while he's only debated for a year now, Tim has seen combat at both Easters and Worlds, and a couple of IVs in-between. He famously lost a teammate to tequila shots on the first night of last Easters, leaving him to iron-man for the rest of the tournament. So if you want to talk to someone who understands adversity and is on your level, bring any issues to Tim. He's guaranteed to understand you 60% of the time, every time.
Stella Graham

A 3rd year of mid-vintage, Stella aims to straddle the line between competent and approachable. Having had a year to practice as equity officer for UNSW Debsoc, Stella assures us there is nothing an Easters first year could vomit up that she hasn’t seen before (a claim in which she seems to take some bizarre med-student pride). She’s also now getting quite familiar with this debating thing having attended, and broken at, two Easters, two Australs, and a Worlds. In an agonising irony Stella, an intense dentaphobe, has an insatiable sweet tooth. Whilst poor for her emotional well-being, it also means she is the equity officer most likely to have comfort food on her at all times, and is more than happy to be approached for a chat and chocolate.
Jessica Musulin
After Convening this tournament in 2013 and being a Deputy Chief Adjudicator last year, Jess was not ready to leave the nest that is Easters. In a desperate effort to stay relevant and feel needed, Jess has come on board this year’s Easters Equity team. Don’t let her avid libertarian views fool you: she feels very passionately about equity policies and a strict authoritarian approach to code of conduct issues. Jess’s other passions include Taylor Swift, Game of Thrones and colour-coding emails.

Vail has represented UTS at Easters and Australs. She was the president of the UTS Debating Society in 2014 and has been heavily involved in the organisation of various other student groups and organisations. She is infamous for conjuring gourmet food on a shoe string, and literal interpretations of the term ‘deadline’.

Justin is a two time Easters, Australs, and Worlds finalist and also judged the grand final of Easters, Australs, and the ESL Quarters of Worlds. He was the president of the UNSW Debating Society in 2013. He enjoys collating information in OCD formatted excel documents, and curating music at parties.
Section Heads
Ben Jackson (Registration)

Ben does not look like your typical debater, because his BMI is above 16 and he spits in the face of people that wear skinny jeans. Despite this he’s achieved success at Easters, Australs, and Worlds representing UTS. He is the 2015 president of the UTS Debating Society. Undeterred by the thankless nature of the position, and slightly aroused by the false feeling of power he yearns for politically, Ben will serve as our registration officer.

Ashna Basu (Media)
Despite being legally a midget, Ashna rarely falls short. She made the transition from hobbit to human when she moved from NZ to Australia, and the transition from NZ rep debater, to Australian drunk debater when she joined the UNSW Debating Society. Although she has debated at Australs twice, she continues to dodge her Easters responsibilities by creating the UNSW Debating and Easters websites, encouraging banter anonymously on social media, and passing out.

Emma Dowsett (Socials)
Emma has debated for UNSW at Easters, Australs, and Worlds. She has also served as the social director of both the UNSW Debating Society and Law Society. Her legacy was immortalised when Urban Dictionary added several definitions for the phrase ‘to Dowsett’, although they have recently been removed as she transitions into a serious corporate lawyer. Determined to go out with a bang, Dowsett thought there would be no better opportunity than a limited budget for 400 alcoholics in the most expensive city in the world. Luckily, she loves goon.
Henry Vidin (Tournament Director)
Henry is a numbers guy and already has an actual job. This makes him an overqualified candidate to run the tab for Easters. He also debated for UTS and served on their executive committee during his time at uni.

Robert Barrie (Official Photographer)
Robert has represented UWS at Easters, Australs, and Worlds. He has built the UWS Debating Society from the ground up with his enthusiasm and commitment to debating. His penchant for Dr Who and photography makes him the perfect person to capture the kodak moments of Easters.
Will Berthelot (Accommodation)
No one knows how to pronounce Will’s last name. Despite being one of the youngest members of the organising committee, he is the only one who satisfies the maturity trifecta of having a car he can drive, living out of home, and not being an idiot.
Other Officers:
We have run out of jokes, but would also like to publicly thank the many general officers of the organising committee. The mammoth task of hosting an event coordinated by two universities, in Sydney, over the Easter weekend was only possible with the effort and time given up by every one of these people, who will unfortunately be under thanked throughout the tournament. Please give them your love:
